The following was posted in a newsletter at work this week, and I thought it was terrific, so I decided to pass it on.
There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head. "Well," she said, "I think I'll braid my hair today!" So she did and she had a wonderful day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head. "Hmm," she said, "I think I'll part my hair down the middle today." So she did and she had a grand day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head. "Well," she said, "Today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail." So she did and she had a fun, fun day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn't a single hair on her head, "Yeah!" she exclaimed, "I don't have to fix my hair today!"
"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass......It's about learning to dance in the rain!"

IT'S GOOD TO LAUGH AT YOURSELF!
Okay! Here's the story. I started my new job last week, and on Tuesday something happened, and I couldn't help laughing at myself. I shared it with some other girls in the office today and they kept passing it on and laughing some more. I didn't mind. It was just one of my shining moments, and here's what happened...
...I took my van to Canadian Tire to have it fixed. I figured it needed a new battery and that's what it was. I left my work number and extension, so they could let me know the problem, how much it cost, and when it was ready. In the morning at work, the main receptionist stepped out of the office for a while, so I sat at her desk (which is just around a corner from mine, but in the same office). I was answering the phone lines and doing some other work. Then...the phone call came. The man on the other end said, "Hi, can you put me through to extension 3042 please." I replied, "Sure, just one moment please." I transfered the call, and you'll never guess what happened! The phone at my desk started ringing! I then realized what I had done. I didn't know my own extension number and had to go around the corner and answer (the same man of course), "Cathy speaking"...Do you think that maybe he didn't recognize my voice? He never let on whether he did or didn't. It was Canadian Tire calling to say my van was ready. Oh well, if he did recognize that I was the same person, I'm sure he had a good laugh too!
I'll be laughing about this for a good, long time. I hope this story at least made you smile!

"A Woman And Her God" by Beth Moore
I am reading this book and came across a passage that seemed like a great prayer for me to start every day with...and thought I'd share in case it speaks to anyone else.
"Lord, You know me. You know my natural personality is given to fear. You know all my insecurities. You know that I have need to be loved and to feel significant and to feel affirmed. And Father, I'm not going to ask my family to do that for me today. They may or may not, and if they do, that's wonderful. But Father, You are my sole satisfaction, and I ask You to satisfy me this morning with your unfailing love."
It was a great reminder to me of what I need to strive for each day!

My Friend, My Blessing!
When I think about enjoyable summers, it was when the kids and I spent most of our time at Lakeshore Camp. The best part was the friendships we made. God brought an amazing friend into my life. Esther is from Toronto, and without being at camp we probably would never have met. My life would have missed out on a great blessing. Our children connected before we did, and now our families are wonderful friends. Though they say opposites attract, we are so much alike (except that she breeds dogs, and I don't particularly even care for them).
I just talked to Esther today, and I was reminded that I'm not a total oddball. I asked her what her dreams and goals are for life. She said just to have a happy family. Not ambitious, people may say, but I answered, "Your dream is exactly like mine." I have been wrestling with myself about what I want out of life. Work is something I have to do. Having a healthy, happy family is my "dream". As life unfolds, I need to hold on to my dream and trust that God will honour my faithfulness.
Below are a couple pictures of my wonderful friend!
